Overview
This one-day symposium for the pediatric primary care team will showcase common patient issues csee in the emergency room. Our speakers will address some of these issues and concerns and share best approaches and guidelines on how to manage the patient -sometimes right in the primary care office or provide proper follow-up care. We are excited to present lectures on the red injured eye, pediatric community-acquired pneumonia, sexual abuse, behaviroal health emergencise, child abuse, child safety, firearm injury prevention and asthma.

Objectives
- Describe the epidemiologic trends in pediatric firearm injury and violence in the United States
- Discuss how to screen children for firearm access and violence engagement and intervene for at-risk children, and analyze the current policies and laws related to firearm injury prevention
- Formulate strategies for managing behavioral health emergencies in the pediatric office
- Develop an approach to the evaluation of youth who express suicidal thoughts or behaviors,including risk assessment and safety planning
- Describe the epidemiology of drowning and crash-related injuries among children and youth in the U.S.
- Describe the injury equity framework as a tool to examine current and historical contributors to inequities
- Describe treatment options and benefits for management of asthma exacerbations
- Review expert guidelines for the management of pediatric community-acquired (CAP) and prediction models for pediatric CAP and their role in testing and treatment decisions
- Describe limitations in clinical approaches in the diagnosis of pediatric CAP•
- Implement actions that will allow your practice to function and survive following a disaster, including personal preparedness to keep the practice safe
- Identify the rashes commonly seen in the emergency department and discuss management recommendations
- Review management of pediatric patients with minor trauma during in-person or remote encounters and review escalation of care options
- Formulate an appropriate differential for common causes of pediatric red eye complaints
- Treat the common causes of red eye conditions and recognize when a referral to a specialist is warranted
- Discuss physical exam findings associated with child sexual abuse and ways that healthcareproviders can help protect evidence in cases of child sexual abuse
- List the top three exam findings that help differentiate abuse from accidental trauma
- Describe the top three presentations of abuse and how they differ from accidental injury presentations
