School Nurse Concussion Course - Certificate of Completion

Description

School nurses have growing responsibilities to manage concussions in the school setting.  Increasing public awareness and the development of state legislation regarding concussions in the school setting have created a need for school nurses to be competent in recognizing and managing concussions.

Objectives

In this course, nurses and other school professionals will learn to:

  • Describe current guidelines on concussion diagnosis, treatment and prevention
  • Articulate the impact of a concussion on school performance 
  • Discuss the roles of school and medical professionals involved in treating concussions
  • Implement the phases of the Return-to-Learn and Return-to-Play protocols
