Description
School nurses have growing responsibilities to manage concussions in the school setting. Increasing public awareness and the development of state legislation regarding concussions in the school setting have created a need for school nurses to be competent in recognizing and managing concussions.
Objectives
In this course, nurses and other school professionals will learn to:
- Describe current guidelines on concussion diagnosis, treatment and prevention
- Articulate the impact of a concussion on school performance
- Discuss the roles of school and medical professionals involved in treating concussions
- Implement the phases of the Return-to-Learn and Return-to-Play protocols
