Target Audience

This educational course is designed for healthcare professionals who are interested in learning the latest about opioids. 

 

Objectives

At the end of this lecture, the participant will be able to:

  • Review the latest data about opioid epidemic and its impact within the US and Illinois in adolescent and adult population
  • Differentiate between diversion, opioid misuse, and opiid use disorder
  • Discuss the relationship between substance use disorder and opioid misuse in youth
  • Learn how to decrease opioid diversion and accidental poisonings through recognizing the importance of safe storage and disposal of opioids
  • Identify ways to support parents and youth with prevention efforts
  • Discover resources available to you to help educate your patients and their families
