Pediatric Pearls Infectious Diseases

 

Overview

This one-day symposium for pediatricians, family physicians and other healthcare providers will showcase the latest approach, updates and research related to certain infectious disease topics, including meales, UTIs, the flu vaccine hesitancy, pneumonia, HIV, hepatitis, bone/joint infections. Our speakers will address health concerns, share cases and offer guidelines on how to manage the patient.

Objectives

1. Recognize the characteristic presentation of measles and plan the appropriate isolation precautions required in your local office

2. Discuss options for management of children with recurrent urinary tract infections

3. Outline communication strategies for dealing with parents and families that are hesitant to vaccinate their children

4. Review the most common etiologies and most common serious complications of community-acquired pneumonia

5. Review HIV prevention options and protocols for exposed infants and adolescents at high-risk for acquisition
