Pediatric Pearls Development and Behavior

Overview

This full-day conference related to the development and behavior of children will provide a mecca of information for the primary care physician. Presented by a superb panel of experts from the Division of Development & Behavior, this group will address hot topics such as autism, behavioral management, the fussy baby, speeh and language, neurodevelopmental delays/ diabilities and more. New to this division, is the the program on Down Syndrome and this course will dicuss new recommendations for treating these children to ensure milestones are reached.

Objectives

  • Recognize the signs of an irritable infant and determine causes of the fussiness and if a specialist is needed
  • Discuss approaches to treating the child with down syndrome
  • Discuss the complex needs of down syndrome children, including new recommendations for advancing their milestones
  • Explain the developmental and behavioral concerns in the child with ASD and the dilemmas in screening
  • Discuss the develomental and behavioral issues in the child with congenital heart disease
  • Recognize the reasons to be alarmed when speech and language is delayed and when to be concerned
