Target Audience

This educational course is designed for healthcare professionals who are interested in learning about how to best approach the patient coming to them for a trauma background and how to recognize, treat and manage the patient coming from these marginalized populations.

At the end of this lecture, the participant will be able to:

  • Implement trauma-informed pediatric practices for work with refugee/immigrant patients

  • Define the role of the medical professional in the asylum process

  • Increase refugee/immigrant engagement in mental health supports

  • Discuss the impact exposure secondary trauma and the need for self-care among pediatric healthcare professionals.
