Target Audience

This educational course is designed for healthcare professionals who are interested in learning about how to best approach the patient coming to them for a trauma background and how to recognize, treat and manage the patient coming from these marginalized populations.

At the end of this lecture, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe how psychological trauma impacts childhood development and behavior in order to develop a "trauma lens".

  • Identify common symtpoms of psychological trauma that may present in a pediatric setting.

  • Model general trauma-informed pediatric practices for work with marginalized populations.

  • Discuss the impact exposure secondary trauma and the need for self-care among pediatric healthcare professionals.
